Software update gone wrong - unbricking a Macbook

Problem Yesterday I tried updating my Macbook M2 Pro to the latest software version (26.4.1). I usually apply software updates as soon as possible (and things don’t go bad — like ever), but I have been struggling with low storage in the last few weeks, so updates haven’t been installed. Long story short, I cleaned up ~50 gigs of space, downloaded the update and waited for macOS to do its magic.

Hello World

I have not written anything publicly in almost seven years. At the time, I was living in California and spending most of my energy on IoT, hardware hacking, and offensive security. Since then, a lot has changed. I moved back to Europe, completed two degrees, and worked on dozens of interesting products across a wide range of technology stacks. Over the past year, I have also found myself returning to small, exploratory projects—the kind driven more by curiosity than by roadmaps or deadlines.
